ר׳ אליעזר אומר אם ישראל עושין תשובה נגאלין, ואם לאו אין נגאלין
Rabbi Eliezer says: If the Jewish people do teshuva, we will be redeemed. If not, we won’t. —Sanhedrin 97b

The Project of the Jewish People

It’s Hanukkah.
It’s time for teshuvah.

Teshuvah is light. Teshuvah is for every room in our hearts and in our homes.

Ma Nishtana – The 4 Questions of Project 97b
What do you think?

1. Do we have one overarching goal, one binding thread to all we are called to do as Jews? Project 97b believes that the overarching goal of all we are called to do is to bind us together as a people – that is teshuva.

2. What is the one danger that threatens our existence beyond all others? Project 97b believes that the greatest threat we face is not anti-semitism but intra-Jewish division, even hate. That means - teshuva.

What do you think?

3. What is the one love above all others: love of God, love of Torah or love of the people Israel? 97b believes that love of Israel is supreme. A love of God and love of Israel are not authentic, without love of fellow Jews. Think teshuva.

What do you think?

4. What is the secret, mystical power of teshuva (so much so that it can bring redemption)? Project 97b believes there is no secret. It’s not supernatural. Teshuva is the most basic element of a happy home. We know it well from our daily lives.
